Ever since its inception Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories was actively involved in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients. As of today, the company owns around 190 medications and 60 active pharmaceutical ingredients that can used to manufacture drugs, develop diagnostic kits, biotechnology products and critical care products. Dr. Reddy’s lab continues to occupy the No. 1 spot as a leading supplier to Indian drug manufacturers. Its area of operation can classified into three broad categories namely pharmaceutical services, global generics, and Active ingredients (PSAI). The company is also very well-known for exporting medicines and generic pharmaceutical ingredients to other least-regulated market. Dr. Reddy’s Lab is the third largest pharmaceutical company in India.

Dr. Reddy’s Lab entered into the production of branded formulations in the year 1986. Its first launched branded medicine was Norilet, and the over the years it launched many such products like omeprazole, a medication used for treating ulcer and reflux oesophagitis condition. A much surprising aspect associated with this Pharma major is that, the prices of all its medications were half of that of its counterparts. It was in the year 1987, when Dr. Reddy’s lab entered into full-fledged manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories made its way into the list of India’s most trusted brands, according to the brand trust report published in the year 2014. The Pharma major strengthened its product portfolio by acquiring American Remedies in the year 1999. The company has many popular drugs in India. In a recent submission made to one of the regulatory authorities, the Pharma major acknowledged that it has 18 active products in its kitty all under the category of proprietary products development. The company very much relies on inventing new biological molecules and developing some new formulations of the existing drugs with an objective to treat medical conditions for which drugs are of scarcity.
